R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Matthew Carlson of The University of Texas at Austin |
|
|
Cockrell School of Engineering has been named a recipient of a |
|
|
National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Currently a senior, Mr. Carlson will receive three |
|
|
years of financial support for his graduate studies within a |
|
|
five-year fellowship period; the grant includes both a $34,000 |
|
|
annual stipend and a yearly cost-of-education allowance to the |
|
|
school; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The NSF Graduate Fellowship Program was founded in |
|
|
1952; it supports research in science, technology, engineering, and |
|
|
mathematics by identifying students early in their graduate careers |
|
|
based on academic achievements and their potential for advancing |
|
|
knowledge in their disciplines; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Matthew Carlson has demonstrated an exceptional |
|
|
commitment to excellence in his field, and he may indeed take pride |
|
|
in this noteworthy achievement; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Matthew Carlson on his receipt of a |
|
|
Graduate Research Fellowship from the National Science Foundation |
|
|
and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be |
|
|
it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. Carlson as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
