R E S O L U T I O N
|

|
|
WHEREAS, Mariah Berry has ably served her fellow Texans as a |
|
|
policy analyst in the office of State Representative Gene Wu during |
|
|
the 84th Legislature; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Since joining the staff through the University of |
|
|
Houston Hobby Fellows internship program, Ms. Berry has worked to |
|
|
analyze a number of human services bills, while also reviewing |
|
|
policy and managing the day-to-day tasks of the office; her |
|
|
resourcefulness and initiative have earned the appreciation of her |
|
|
colleagues, and her contributions to carrying forth Representative |
|
|
Wu's legislative agenda have helped address issues facing citizens |
|
|
across the Lone Star State; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Berry is a 2014 graduate of the University of |
|
|
Houston, where she received a bachelor's degree in political |
|
|
science with a minor in phronesis; while there, she excelled in her |
|
|
academic work, earning placement on the dean's list and in the |
|
|
Honors College, along with membership in the Pi Sigma Alpha |
|
|
Political Science Honor Society; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, In addition to her studies, Ms. Berry served as a |
|
|
research assistant in the Graduate College of Social Work and |
|
|
volunteered her time with a number of on-campus organizations; a |
|
|
member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, she was |
|
|
active in the Student Government Association and held memberships |
|
|
on the University Hearing Board, on the Diversity Dimensions |
|
|
Committee, in the African American Honors Student Association, and |
|
|
in the Phi Alpha Delta Pre-Law Society; after completing her |
|
|
internship, she plans to attend The University of Texas School of |
|
|
Law; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This outstanding young Texan has performed her |
|
|
duties as a policy analyst with skill and dedication, and she is |
|
|
indeed deserving of special recognition for her fine work; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby commend Mariah Berry for her service as a policy |
|
|
analyst in the office of State Representative Gene Wu and extend to |
|
|
her sincere best wishes for continued success in all her endeavors; |
|
|
and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Berry as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
