R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Mariah Berry has ably served her fellow Texans as a
  policy analyst in the office of State Representative Gene Wu during
  the 84th Legislature; and
         WHEREAS, Since joining the staff through the University of
  Houston Hobby Fellows internship program, Ms. Berry has worked to
  analyze a number of human services bills, while also reviewing
  policy and managing the day-to-day tasks of the office; her
  resourcefulness and initiative have earned the appreciation of her
  colleagues, and her contributions to carrying forth Representative
  Wu's legislative agenda have helped address issues facing citizens
  across the Lone Star State; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Berry is a 2014 graduate of the University of
  Houston, where she received a bachelor's degree in political
  science with a minor in phronesis; while there, she excelled in her
  academic work, earning placement on the dean's list and in the
  Honors College, along with membership in the Pi Sigma Alpha
  Political Science Honor Society; and
         WHEREAS, In addition to her studies, Ms. Berry served as a
  research assistant in the Graduate College of Social Work and
  volunteered her time with a number of on-campus organizations; a
  member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, she was
  active in the Student Government Association and held memberships
  on the University Hearing Board, on the Diversity Dimensions
  Committee, in the African American Honors Student Association, and
  in the Phi Alpha Delta Pre-Law Society; after completing her
  internship, she plans to attend The University of Texas School of
  Law; and
         WHEREAS, This outstanding young Texan has performed her
  duties as a policy analyst with skill and dedication, and she is
  indeed deserving of special recognition for her fine work; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby commend Mariah Berry for her service as a policy
  analyst in the office of State Representative Gene Wu and extend to
  her sincere best wishes for continued success in all her endeavors;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Berry as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
