R E S O L U T I O N

|
|
WHEREAS, Family owned and operated businesses play a vital |
|
|
role in the prosperity of Texas, and Hey Mikey's Ice Cream has |
|
|
established itself as a welcome addition to the retail community in |
|
|
Galveston; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This unique ice cream emporium was founded by Mike |
|
|
and Kathy Bouvier in Boise, Idaho, in 2009; the couple created their |
|
|
own fresh ice cream and sold it out of a trailer; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, After falling in love with the Texas Gulf Coast |
|
|
during a visit, the Bouviers relocated to Galveston; they opened a |
|
|
small ice cream parlor in the city's hospital district, where they |
|
|
make their own ice cream and Italian ices, and they also continue to |
|
|
distribute their products out of their original trailer; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, On May 13, 2015, Hey Mikey's Ice Cream helped to |
|
|
sweeten the 84th Texas Legislative Session by delivering pints of |
|
|
their popular products to grateful members of the legislature; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Hey Mikey's Ice Cream and the Bouvier family are |
|
|
contributing to the distinctive charm of the Galveston community, |
|
|
and they may indeed take pride in the results of their hard work and |
|
|
creativity; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby recognize Hey Mikey's Ice Cream and extend |
|
|
sincere best wishes to Mike and Kathy Bouvier and their staff for |
|
|
continued success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Hey Mikey's Ice Cream as an expression of high regard |
|
|
by the Texas House of Representatives. |
