R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Carol Johnson of La Grange retired as Fayette County |
|
|
tax assessor-collector in 2015, and the conclusion of her |
|
|
outstanding 33-year career in public office provides a fitting |
|
|
opportunity to recognize her; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, After working for the state comptroller in Austin |
|
|
for 17 years, Ms. Johnson moved to La Grange in 1978; she joined the |
|
|
office of the Fayette County Precinct 1 justice of the peace in |
|
|
1981, and she was named county treasurer in 1982; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Johnson became the county tax |
|
|
assessor-collector in 1987, and she went on to serve seven |
|
|
consecutive terms in that office; over the years she saw many |
|
|
changes in her duties, and she met each challenge with grace and |
|
|
integrity; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, In all her endeavors, Ms. Johnson enjoys the love |
|
|
and support of her husband, James, and their children; as her family |
|
|
has grown, she has shared many treasured moments with her |
|
|
grandchildren, and she looks forward to spending more time with |
|
|
loved ones in her retirement; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A committed champion of her community, Carol Johnson |
|
|
may reflect with pride on all that she has accomplished in its |
|
|
behalf, and her contributions will continue to benefit area Texans |
|
|
for years to come; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Carol Johnson on her retirement as |
|
|
the Fayette County tax assessor-collector and extend to her sincere |
|
|
best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Johnson as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
