R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Jake Straker of Boy Scouts of America Troop No. 1014
  in Cypress has attained the rank of Eagle Scout, and this
  accomplishment truly merits special recognition; and
         WHEREAS, Receiving the Eagle Scout badge is a significant
  honor, bestowed on only a small fraction of those who enter the
  scouting movement; in the course of meeting the rank's demanding
  criteria, Mr. Straker earned the requisite 21 merit badges and
  successfully completed an Eagle Scout project, which involved
  building an outdoor learning space for area children; and
         WHEREAS, The son of Patrick and Janice Straker, this fine
  young Texan has demonstrated outstanding leadership ability
  throughout his scouting career, winning the respect and admiration
  of the fellow members of his troop through his service as senior
  patrol leader, assistant senior patrol leader, historian,
  chaplain, and quartermaster; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Straker has distinguished himself outside of
  scouting as well, earning high marks while taking upper level
  classes in his sophomore year at Cypress Creek High School; he also
  captained the football team, participated in student council, and
  currently works at a competitive volleyball facility; and
         WHEREAS, Eagle Scout Straker's dedication to excellence and
  his perseverance in the pursuit of his goals have proven him worthy
  to stand among scouting's elite, and he may indeed reflect with
  pride on a job well done; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Jake Straker on achieving the rank
  of Eagle Scout and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued
  success and happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Eagle Scout Straker as an expression of high regard by
  the Texas House of Representatives.
