R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Residents of San Elizario are gathering on May 27, |
|
2015, for the grand opening of the San Elizario City Hall; and |
|
WHEREAS, Well known for its historic and cultural landmarks, |
|
San Elizario has a population of some 13,500 people in El Paso |
|
County; it was incorporated by a community-wide vote held on |
|
November 5, 2013, and a mayor and city council were elected to lead |
|
the newly designated city the following year; and |
|
WHEREAS, The city hall, located in the historic district of |
|
San Elizario, will serve as the center of government for municipal |
|
officers and staff, including Mayor Maya Sanchez and alderpersons |
|
Leticia Miranda, David Cantu, Miguel Najera Jr., Rebecca |
|
Martinez-Juarez, and George Almanzar; the dedication ceremony for |
|
the building will also feature the unveiling of the official city |
|
seal; and |
|
WHEREAS, Proudly calling itself "the newest city with the |
|
oldest history in the state of Texas," the city of San Elizario is |
|
preserving its rich heritage while working to build an even |
|
brighter future for present and future generations, and it is |
|
indeed a pleasure to join in recognizing this special milestone; |
|
now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby commemorate the opening of the San Elizario City |
|
Hall and extend sincere best wishes to all those in attendance for |
|
an enjoyable and memorable event; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for the city of San Elizario as an expression of high |
|
regard by the Texas House of Representatives. |
