R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The residents of Victoria lost a prominent community
  leader with the passing of the Honorable Kemper Sam Williams Jr. on
  April 30, 2015, at the age of 83; and
         WHEREAS, Born to Kemper and Genevieve Williams in Victoria on
  May 21, 1931, Mr. Williams graduated from St. Joseph High School in
  1948 and went on to earn a law degree from St. Mary's University; he
  became a respected lawyer in Victoria and also hosted a popular
  daily show, Kemper, on AM radio; this patriotic Texan fought
  bravely for his country during the Korean War as a captain in the
  U.S. Army, and he remained in the Army Reserve for many years after;
  and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Williams served as the mayor of Victoria from
  1963 to 1973 and as president of the Texas Municipal League for
  several terms; among the many organizations to benefit from his
  interest were the Victoria Jaycees, the Salvation Army, the
  Victoria Civic Chorus, and the Military Order of the World Wars; in
  all of his endeavors, he enjoyed the love and support of his wife,
  Patricia, with whom he shared a rewarding marriage that spanned 59
  years until her passing; and
         WHEREAS, An active and dedicated public servant, Kemper
  Williams will be deeply missed, but his achievements will continue
  to benefit area residents for years to come; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Kemper Sam Williams
  Jr. and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his
  daughters, Cecilia Allison and her husband, Robert, Mary Tinsley
  and her husband, Steve, and Jane Newton and her husband, Charles; to
  his son, Kemper Stephen Williams and his wife, Doreen; to his 15
  grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; and to his other
  relatives and many friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Kemper Sam
  Williams Jr. of Victoria.
