R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Sheffield A. Kadane is stepping down as Dallas City
  Council member for District 9 in 2015, drawing to a close two
  decades of service to the community; and
         WHEREAS, Sheffie Kadane's exemplary 20-year tenure in
  municipal government began in 1995, when he joined the City of
  Dallas Board of Adjustments, serving as vice chair until 2003; he
  went on to become a member of the Dallas Park and Recreation Board
  that same year, and he served as a vice chair and as liaison to the
  Dallas Arboretum and to White Rock Lake; and
         WHEREAS, In 2007, Mr. Kadane was elected to the District 9
  seat on the city council, and over the course of his eight years as a
  council member, he has been vice chair of the transportation and
  environment committee and has served on committees devoted to
  public safety, economic development, the quality of life and
  government services, and judicial nominations; his knowledge and
  expertise in a wide range of community issues have earned him the
  respect of the public and his fellow council members; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Kadane's extensive record of community service
  includes membership in the Dallas Northeast Chamber of Commerce,
  the Rotary Club, the Government Affairs Committee of the MetroTex
  Association of Realtors, the White Rock Lake Task Force, the board
  of the Department of Transportation, and several committees for the
  Dallas Arboretum; and
         WHEREAS, Sheffie Kadane attended Dallas schools as a child,
  graduating from Woodrow Wilson High School, and then went on to earn
  a degree from Arlington State College, now The University of Texas
  at Arlington; since 1963, he has served as president of PICS
  Investment Company, and since 1978, he has also been a managing
  partner of K-B Oil Company; in addition, he has worked as an agent
  and broker for Ebby Halliday Realtors since 1995; in all his
  endeavors, he has benefited from the love and support of his wife of
  40 years, Deborah, and his 7 children and 16 grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, Each day, public servants improve the quality of
  life for their fellow citizens in innumerable ways, and the efforts
  of Sheffie Kadane have helped to make the city he loves an even
  better place in which to live and work; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby commend Sheffield A. Kadane for his long service
  to the City of Dallas and extend to him sincere best wishes for
  continued success and happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Kadane as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
