R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Heather Riddle, a participant in the McClendon
  Scholars Program, has provided valuable support as a legislative
  intern in the office of Speaker Joe Straus during the 84th Texas
  Legislature; and
         WHEREAS, Created in 2004, the McClendon Scholars Program,
  which is also known as The University of Texas at San Antonio
  Legislative Scholars Program, is a collaborative effort between
  State Representative Ruth Jones McClendon and the UTSA Institute
  for Law and Public Affairs; the initiative gives students who have
  an interest in public policy the opportunity to work as interns at
  the State Capitol during legislative sessions; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Riddle is graduating in May from UTSA with a
  bachelor's degree in public administration and a minor in political
  science and women's studies; during her college career, she has
  earned inclusion on both the dean's and president's lists and has
  been the recipient of a number of academic scholarships; and
         WHEREAS, In addition to her studies, this outstanding young
  Texan has worked as a computer administrator at the on-campus
  Writing Center since 2009, and she has lent her time and talents to
  the production of several instructional writing publications for
  the school; moreover, she served as secretary general for the Model
  United Nations Society of UTSA in 2014, its inaugural year, and as
  committee chair for the inaugural Model UN Conference; she is also a
  former member of the Public Administration Student Organization,
  the Leon Valley Earthwise Living Committee, and the Leon Valley
  Election and Re-election Campaign Committee; and
         WHEREAS, While gaining important experience in the field of
  public service as a member of Speaker Straus's staff, Heather
  Riddle has contributed to the workings of state government
  firsthand and learned more about the legislative process and the
  issues facing citizens of the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby commend Heather Riddle for her work as a
  McClendon Scholar and legislative intern in the office of Speaker
  Joe Straus and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued
  success in all her endeavors; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Riddle as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
