R E S O L U T I O N

|
WHEREAS, Ian McCaw, athletic director at Baylor University, |
|
|
has deservedly been honored with a 2014-2015 Under Armour Athletic |
|
|
Director of the Year Award, and this achievement indeed merits |
|
|
special recognition; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Established in 1998 and presented annually by the |
|
|
National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics, the |
|
|
Athletic Director of the Year Award highlights the efforts of |
|
|
athletic directors at all levels of collegiate competition for |
|
|
their commitment and positive contributions to student-athletes, |
|
|
campuses, and their surrounding communities; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A fitting recipient of this prestigious accolade, |
|
|
Mr. McCaw has ably guided Baylor's athletics programs since taking |
|
|
over as athletic director in 2003; under his guidance, the school |
|
|
has enjoyed an outstanding run of athletic success, capturing five |
|
|
national championships and more than 50 conference titles during |
|
|
his tenure; he was selected for the 2014-2015 award after Baylor |
|
|
teams won eight Big 12 Conference championships and a national |
|
|
championship in acrobatics and tumbling, and 14 squads advanced to |
|
|
postseason play; moreover, this marks the second time that he has |
|
|
been honored by the NACDA as Athletic Director of the Year, having |
|
|
previously won the award in 2011-2012; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Baylor University has benefited greatly from the |
|
|
skillful leadership of Ian McCaw, and he may take great pride in |
|
|
receiving this significant award as he continues to excel in his |
|
|
stewardship of the school's sports programs; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Ian McCaw on his selection as a |
|
|
2014-2015 Under Armour Athletic Director of the Year and extend to |
|
|
him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. McCaw as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
