R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Riley Richards, a sophomore at China Spring High |
|
School, achieved great distinction by winning the Class 4A silver |
|
medal in the pole vault at the University Interscholastic League |
|
Track & Field State Meet on May 16, 2015; and |
|
WHEREAS, Facing the top competitors in the state at Mike |
|
A. Meyers Stadium in Austin, Mr. Richards turned in a remarkable |
|
performance, reaching a height of 16 feet, 3 inches, to finish as |
|
the overall runner-up in Class 4A competition; and |
|
WHEREAS, This fine young Texan has furthered a proud family |
|
tradition of pole vaulting with his achievements at the state meet; |
|
his father, Brandon Richards, competed in the pole vault at the |
|
collegiate level, and his grandfather, Bob Richards, won gold |
|
medals in the event at the 1952 and 1956 Summer Olympics; and |
|
WHEREAS, By excelling in the state's premier showcase for |
|
high school track and field athletes, Riley Richards has become a |
|
source of pride for his family and school, and he will cherish his |
|
memories of this outstanding accomplishment for years to come; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Riley Richards on his second-place |
|
finish in the Class 4A pole vault at the UIL Track & Field State Meet |
|
and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be |
|
it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Richards as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
