R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Riley Richards, a sophomore at China Spring High
  School, achieved great distinction by winning the Class 4A silver
  medal in the pole vault at the University Interscholastic League
  Track & Field State Meet on May 16, 2015; and
         WHEREAS, Facing the top competitors in the state at Mike
  A. Meyers Stadium in Austin, Mr. Richards turned in a remarkable
  performance, reaching a height of 16 feet, 3 inches, to finish as
  the overall runner-up in Class 4A competition; and
         WHEREAS, This fine young Texan has furthered a proud family
  tradition of pole vaulting with his achievements at the state meet;
  his father, Brandon Richards, competed in the pole vault at the
  collegiate level, and his grandfather, Bob Richards, won gold
  medals in the event at the 1952 and 1956 Summer Olympics; and
         WHEREAS, By excelling in the state's premier showcase for
  high school track and field athletes, Riley Richards has become a
  source of pride for his family and school, and he will cherish his
  memories of this outstanding accomplishment for years to come; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Riley Richards on his second-place
  finish in the Class 4A pole vault at the UIL Track & Field State Meet
  and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be
  it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Richards as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
