R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Maria Angeles, a student at Socorro High School, has
  been selected to take part in Subiendo: The Academy for Rising
  Leaders, taking place at The University of Texas at Austin from June
  14 to 18, 2015; and
         WHEREAS, A summer program administered by the McCombs School
  of Business, Subiendo is designed to prepare the next generation of
  leaders to address the needs of our state and nation; during the
  five-day event, students participate in role-playing scenarios
  that challenge them to develop solutions for issues related to
  health care, education, energy, and the environment; they are also
  introduced to leaders from a broad range of fields and professions
  and are given a mentor to assist them with navigating their higher
  education options; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Angeles is one of approximately 80 promising
  young people from across the state who have been chosen to attend
  the academy in 2015; applicants are evaluated on such criteria as
  their academic record and leadership qualities, and they are
  required to submit essays that measure their perseverance and
  critical thinking ability; and
         WHEREAS, Subiendo provides young Texans with an opportunity
  to gain skills, knowledge, and experience that will be of immense
  value to them in the years to come, and Maria Angeles may indeed
  take pride in her admission to this prestigious program; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Maria Angeles on her acceptance to
  Subiendo: The Academy for Rising Leaders and extend to her sincere
  best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Angeles as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
