H.R. No. 3203

R E S O L U T I O N

WHEREAS, The Nueces County Medical Society is celebrating the 50th anniversary of its annual health fair on August 1, 2015, and this occasion provides a fitting opportunity to honor the organization; and

WHEREAS, The NCMS offers a variety of services as well as opportunities for networking and mutual support to physicians in Nueces County, and since 1965, the society has held a yearly health fair to provide free testing and healthy living information to individuals who might not receive regular health care; previous events have drawn as many as 7,000 people; and

WHEREAS, The 50th anniversary health fair is being held at the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi, and participants may take advantage of physicals, immunizations, and nutrition advice for children, as well as blood pressure and glucose testing, mammography referrals, and screening for varicose veins, diabetes, and cholesterol; visitors also may benefit from the popular "Ask a Doctor" booths staffed by family physicians and specialists; and

WHEREAS, For half a century, the NCMS Health Fair has provided information and expert advice about health care and healthy living to individuals in need, and the physicians of the society may indeed take great pride in their generous contribution of time and expertise; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas Legislature hereby commemorate the 50th annual Nueces County Medical Society Health Fair and extend sincere best wishes to the society's doctors and guests for a meaningful and helpful event; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the Nueces County Medical Society as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
