R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The citizens of Quitman lost an esteemed community |
|
leader with the death of the Honorable Gayle Ingram on March 5, |
|
2015, at the age of 86; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born to Will and Elizabeth Ingram in the Rock Hill |
|
community on July 14, 1928, Gayle Ingram graduated from Quitman |
|
High School in 1945 and went on to continue his education at East |
|
Texas State Teachers College and Sam Houston State University; over |
|
the years, he worked as a teacher at Brownsville High School and as |
|
a district manager for Ford Tractor Company, and he also served in |
|
the 8th Naval District in New Orleans and the Naval Reserve |
|
electronic unit in Harlingen; and |
|
WHEREAS, He returned home to Quitman in 1963 and was involved |
|
in farming and ranching and also in the auctioneering business, and |
|
in 1989, he established the highly respected IQ School of |
|
Auctioneering; and |
|
WHEREAS, In 1970, the residents of Wood, Upshur, Camp, and |
|
Hopkins Counties elected Mr. Ingram to the Texas House of |
|
Representatives; during his term in office, he was a member of the |
|
Agriculture and Livestock, County Government, Public Education, |
|
School Districts, and Judicial Districts Committees; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Ingram married the former Dorothy Ellington, |
|
with whom he shared a rewarding union that spanned 64 years; he was |
|
the proud father of a son, Bryan, and three daughters, Elizabeth, |
|
Alice, and Dorothy, and took great delight in his granddaughter and |
|
great-grandson; he was a valued congregant at First Baptist Church |
|
Quitman; and |
|
WHEREAS, Deeply devoted to his family, his community, and his |
|
country, Gayle Ingram made a meaningful difference in the lives of |
|
his loved ones and fellow citizens alike, and his contributions |
|
will be remembered for years to come; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of the Honorable Gayle |
|
Ingram and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to |
|
his wife, Dorothy Ingram; to his daughters, Elizabeth Ingram Mesick |
|
and her husband, Gene, and Alice Ingram; to his son, Bryan Ingram, |
|
and his wife, Lisa; to his granddaughter and his great-grandson; |
|
and to his other relatives and many friends; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of the |
|
Honorable Gayle Ingram. |
