H.R. No. 3219
         WHEREAS, The citizens of Brazos County lost an admired
  community leader with the passing of former county judge Arthur
  Randolph Sims on April 2, 2015, at the age of 75; and
         WHEREAS, Randy Sims was born in Houston on July 31, 1939, to
  William Arthur and Augusta Randolph Sims; he attended Stephen F.
  Austin High School, and went on to further his education at Texas
  A&M University on a football scholarship; he was an exceptional
  running back and place kicker, and for a number of years he held the
  Southwest Conference record for a field goal kick of 52 yards; and
         WHEREAS, Judge Sims remained in Bryan-College Station after
  he graduated and operated a popular barbecue restaurant for 27
  years; dedicated to working for the well-being of his fellow
  residents, he served as Brazos County Commissioner for 16 years,
  and he was also on the Bryan City Council; in 2003, he was elected
  Brazos County Judge, a position he held until 2010; and
         WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Judge Sims had the love and
  support of his wife of 54 years, Brenda, and he was the proud father
  of Randy and Diana; and
         WHEREAS, A widely respected businessman and county official,
  Judge Randy Sims will be deeply missed, but his achievements and
  high standards for public service will continue to benefit the area
  for years to come; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of the Honorable
  Arthur Randolph Sims and extend sincere sympathy to the members of
  his family: to his wife, Brenda Sims; to his children, Randy Sims
  and his wife, Amy, and Diana Younts and her husband, Clay; to his
  sister, Reba; to his grandchildren, Bryan, Kacey, Stacy Jo and her
  husband, Brian, Kimber, Katie, Travis, Mary Faith, and Gracie; and
  to his other relatives and many friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of former
  Brazos County judge Randy Sims.
