R E S O L U T I O N

|
|
WHEREAS, Those Texans who give freely of their time and |
|
|
talents to benefit their fellow citizens make the world a better |
|
|
place through their actions and their example, and Thomas M. |
|
|
Dunning of Dallas is being recognized for his exceptional community |
|
|
service by being named a recipient of a 2015 Profiles in Leadership |
|
|
Award; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This highly esteemed individual has served his |
|
|
community as chair of the Dallas Citizens Council, as vice |
|
|
president of the Dallas Park and Recreation Board, and as the first |
|
|
Homeless Czar for the city; he has also held appointments to the |
|
|
boards of the Texas Departments of Transportation, Human Services, |
|
|
and Criminal Justice; currently, Mr. Dunning is serving on the |
|
|
boards of the Baylor Health Care System Foundation, the Southern |
|
|
Methodist University Tower Center for Political Studies, The |
|
|
Bridge, North Dallas Shared Ministries, and Greenhill School; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Over the years, Mr. Dunning has received a number of |
|
|
prestigious accolades, including the Linz Award, the |
|
|
Anti-Defamation League Humanitarian Award, and the Volunteer |
|
|
Center of North Texas Servant Leader Award; a graduate of The |
|
|
University of Texas at Austin, he has been named chair emeritus of |
|
|
Lockton Dunning Benefits; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The strength and unity of our cities are enhanced by |
|
|
the devoted efforts of individuals such as Thomas Dunning, whose |
|
|
tireless work has contributed immeasurably to the quality of life |
|
|
in Dallas; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Thomas M. Dunning on his receipt of |
|
|
a 2015 Profiles in Leadership Award and commend him on his exemplary |
|
|
record of civic engagement; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. Dunning as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
