R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Mary Claire Phillips has ably served her fellow |
|
|
Texans as an intern in the office of State Representative Chris |
|
|
Turner during the 84th Legislative Session; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Since joining the staff, Ms. Phillips has provided |
|
|
vital assistance in handling a wide variety of challenging tasks, |
|
|
including addressing the needs of constituents and conducting |
|
|
research for legislation concerning guns, equality, and women's |
|
|
health; in addition to learning more about the legislative process |
|
|
and the issues facing citizens of the Lone Star State, she has |
|
|
gained valuable experience in the field of public service; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Phillips is currently a freshman at The |
|
|
University of Texas at Austin, where she is pursuing a bachelor's |
|
|
degree in government and competes as a member of the speech team; |
|
|
she has also been involved in politics as an intern for former state |
|
|
senator Wendy Davis, a canvasser for the city council campaign of |
|
|
Gregorio Casar, and a fellow of the South Dallas office of |
|
|
Battleground Texas; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This outstanding young Texan has performed her |
|
|
duties as a legislative intern with skill and dedication, and she is |
|
|
indeed deserving of special recognition for her fine work; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby commend Mary Claire Phillips for her service as |
|
|
a legislative intern in the office of State Representative Chris |
|
|
Turner and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success |
|
|
in all her endeavors; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Phillips as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
