R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Carlos Aguayo of McAllen has rendered outstanding
  service to his fellow Texans during the 84th Legislature as one of
  the inaugural participants in the Rio Grande Valley Legislative
  Internship Program; and
         WHEREAS, Sponsored by State Representative Terry Canales and
  The University of Texas--Pan American Foundation, this program is
  designed to encourage UTPA students to pursue careers in public
  service; Mr. Aguayo has worked in the Capitol office of State
  Representative Oscar Longoria, where he has handled a range of
  important responsibilities over the course of the legislative
  session; and
         WHEREAS, Carlos Aguayo is a cum laude graduate of UTPA, where
  he earned a bachelor's degree in economics with a minor in political
  science in December 2014; during his academic career, he attended
  the summerlong UTPA Law School Preparation Institute and was
  awarded first place nationally in the Up to Us Competition, a
  program sponsored by the Clinton Global Initiative; active in a
  number of campus organizations as well, he served as secretary of
  the Economics Society and historian of the Financial Management
  Association, and he found time to volunteer as an organizer for the
  Border Economic Development and Entrepreneurship Symposium in 2013
  and 2014; and
         WHEREAS, This notable young Texan has performed his duties as
  a legislative intern with skill and dedication, and he has gained
  valuable leadership experience while learning more about the issues
  confronting citizens of the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby honor Carlos Aguayo for his participation in the
  Rio Grande Valley Legislative Internship Program and extend to him
  sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Aguayo as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
