R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Shauna Miller of Edinburg has rendered outstanding
  service to her fellow Texans during the 84th Legislature as one of
  the inaugural participants in the Rio Grande Valley Legislative
  Internship Program; and
         WHEREAS, Sponsored by State Representative Terry Canales and
  The University of Texas--Pan American Foundation, this program is
  designed to encourage UTPA students to pursue careers in public
  service; Ms. Miller has worked in the Capitol office of State
  Representative Sergio Muñoz Jr., where she has handled a range of
  important responsibilities over the course of the legislative
  session; and
         WHEREAS, Shauna Miller is currently working toward a
  bachelor's degree in political science and philosophy with a
  concentration in pre-law at UTPA, and she is expected to graduate in
  August; in addition to pursuing her studies, she has completed
  prior internships at a law firm and at the Greater Mission Chamber
  of Commerce, and she attended the UTPA Law School Preparation
  Institute this past summer; moreover, she has volunteered her time
  with several charities and assisted with a voter registration drive
  in Edinburg through Latino Leadership for Voter Empowerment; and
         WHEREAS, This notable young Texan has performed her duties as
  a legislative intern with skill and dedication, and she has gained
  valuable leadership experience while learning more about the issues
  confronting citizens of the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby honor Shauna Miller for her participation in the
  Rio Grande Valley Legislative Internship Program and extend to her
  sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Miller as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
