R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Memorial High School Band in San Antonio has |
|
|
deservedly been honored with a 2015 SupportMusic Merit Award from |
|
|
the National Association of Music Merchants Foundation; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Through its Best Communities for Music Education |
|
|
program, the nonprofit NAMM Foundation annually presents the |
|
|
SupportMusic Merit Award to schools that have demonstrated an |
|
|
outstanding commitment to providing music access and education; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, One of only 120 schools from across the nation to |
|
|
receive this prestigious accolade, Memorial High was recognized for |
|
|
its forward-thinking approach to instruction, student |
|
|
participation, and community involvement; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Music education has been shown to contribute to |
|
|
academic success, and in earning this accolade, Memorial High |
|
|
School has asserted itself as a national leader in this important |
|
|
field of study; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate the Memorial High School Band on |
|
|
its receipt of a 2015 SupportMusic Merit Award from the NAMM |
|
|
Foundation and extend to all those associated with the ensemble |
|
|
sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the band as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
