R E S O L U T I O N

|
|
WHEREAS, Darrell Williams II celebrated a significant |
|
|
achievement in his life on May 16, 2015, when he graduated summa cum |
|
|
laude and 12th in his class from the Thurgood Marshall School of Law |
|
|
at Texas Southern University; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The grandson of the Honorable Senfronia Thompson, |
|
|
Mr. Williams received his bachelor's degree in accounting from the |
|
|
University of Houston--Downtown in 2009 before enrolling at TSU, |
|
|
where his academic record has earned him merit-based scholarships |
|
|
and repeated placement on the dean's list; an active member of the |
|
|
Hispanic Law Student Association, he has also served as treasurer |
|
|
of the Delta Theta Phi Law Fraternity, and he pursued his interest |
|
|
in immigration law while participating in a study abroad program at |
|
|
the University of Puerto Rico in 2013; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, During his time in law school, this notable Texan |
|
|
has taken judicial internships in the 127th District Court in |
|
|
Houston and in the U.S. District Court, Southern District of Texas, |
|
|
in Laredo; additionally, he spent a summer in 2014 working in the |
|
|
Houston office of the Texas Civil Rights Project, and he gained |
|
|
earlier experience working in the Linebarger Law Firm in Houston |
|
|
from 2002 to 2012; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Darrell Williams has demonstrated the skill, |
|
|
passion, and determination needed to succeed in a demanding |
|
|
profession, and he may indeed reflect on his academic career with |
|
|
pride as he looks forward to a future bright with promise; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Darrell Williams II on his |
|
|
graduation from the Thurgood Marshall School of Law and extend to |
|
|
him sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, |
|
|
be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. Williams as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
