R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Rachel Hernandez has ably served her fellow Texans
  as an aide in the office of State Representative Gilbert Peña during
  the 84th Legislative Session; and
         WHEREAS, Since joining the staff, Ms. Hernandez has provided
  vital assistance in handling a wide variety of challenging tasks;
  in addition to learning more about the legislative process and the
  issues facing citizens of the Lone Star State, she has gained
  valuable experience in the field of public service; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Hernandez is a graduate of The University of
  Texas at Austin, where she earned a bachelor's degree in government
  with a minor in rhetoric; she participated in the UTeach training
  program and served as a teaching assistant for a social dance class
  for which she developed learning objectives and classroom exercises
  designed to encourage students' cognitive growth and to improve
  their communication skills as well as dance skills in social
  settings; moreover, she has supported a number of worthwhile causes
  in the community, volunteering with the Helping Hornz service group
  and lending her support to back-to-school drives in the Rio Grande
  Valley; and
         WHEREAS, This outstanding young Texan has performed her
  duties as a legislative aide with skill and dedication, and she is
  indeed deserving of special recognition for her fine work; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby commend Rachel Hernandez for her service as a
  legislative aide in the office of State Representative Gilbert Peña
  and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success in all
  her endeavors; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Hernandez as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
