R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Drama students at The Colony High School have |
|
brought great distinction to their school through their exceptional |
|
success at recent University Interscholastic League and |
|
International Thespian Society competitions; and |
|
WHEREAS, This year, members of the Colony theater ensemble |
|
staged their one-act play The Lost Boy at a series of UIL |
|
competitions, and with their triumph at the regional level, they |
|
have earned the right to perform in the state-level contest in |
|
Austin for the first time in school history; the cast and crew have |
|
been ably guided in this endeavor by directors Dwayne and Ronda |
|
Craig, and individual accolades were awarded to Ashleigh Calvert in |
|
publicity and media design, Chloe Stout in costume design, and |
|
Chelsea MacElvaine in makeup design; and |
|
WHEREAS, In addition to taking top honors at UIL, Colony |
|
students have made a phenomenal showing in events sponsored by the |
|
International Thespian Society, with both theater troupes from the |
|
school advancing to the national competition to be held in Lincoln, |
|
Nebraska; the two groups impressed judges with their energetic |
|
performances of "When You're an Addams" from The Addams Family |
|
musical and "Pick-A-Little, Talk-A-Little" from The Music Man, and |
|
two students are going on to represent their school in individual |
|
contests, Allison Rosenbaum in stage management and Ashleigh |
|
Calvert in theater marketing; and |
|
WHEREAS, These outstanding young Texans have demonstrated |
|
remarkable talent and dedication, and they may take special pride |
|
in all they have accomplished during this truly unforgettable |
|
season; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby honor the drama students of The Colony High |
|
School for their superb efforts over the past school year and extend |
|
to them sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for the school as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
