R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close with the |
|
passing of Pauline Conner Wright of Baytown on March 31, 2015, at |
|
the age of 98; and |
|
WHEREAS, Pauline Conner was born in Diboll on November 14, |
|
1916, to Frances El Dena George Conner and Floyd P. Conner; she grew |
|
up on a farm with the companionship of 10 siblings before graduating |
|
from Robert E. Lee High School in Baytown in 1936; and |
|
WHEREAS, The following year, Ms. Conner married the love of |
|
her life, John Layton Wright Sr.; she went on to become the mother |
|
of three children, Polly, Beverly, and John, and later in life she |
|
was blessed with seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, A respected employee of Sears for many years, |
|
Mrs. Wright was also an accomplished seamstress and a longtime |
|
member of a sewing club, as well as an avid gardener; she enjoyed |
|
playing dominoes and cards, and she also took pleasure in reading, |
|
traveling, watching baseball and football, and entertaining her |
|
family and friends with delicious home-cooked meals; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mrs. Wright took great comfort in her strong |
|
religious faith, and she was a member of Central Baptist Church for |
|
more than half a century, serving as the president and treasurer of |
|
the church's Esther Class for 20 years; she was also a member of the |
|
Exxon Club and the Guild of Houston Baptist University; and |
|
WHEREAS, Throughout her years on this earth, Pauline Wright |
|
treasured the time she spent in the company of her family and |
|
friends, and those she leaves behind will in turn cherish their |
|
memories of this kind and caring woman; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Pauline Conner Wright |
|
and extend sincere condolences to the members of her family: to her |
|
children, Polly Wright Carlton and her husband, Willie, Beverly |
|
Wright Boykin and her husband, Mack, and Dr. John L. Wright Jr. and |
|
his wife, Melinda; to her grandchildren, Ron Boykin and his wife, |
|
Glorianne, Luanne Boykin Gerstner and her husband, Richard, Brad |
|
Carlton and his wife, Sky, Jared Wright and his wife, Jessica, Karin |
|
Sherwood, Sarah Bowen, and Lauren Whitson and her husband, Brian; |
|
to her great-grandchildren, Hannah and Kendall Carlton, Nicholas |
|
Leon, Michael Velasquez, and Oliver Wick; and to her other |
|
relatives and friends; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Pauline |
|
Conner Wright. |
