R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Lynn Forney Young has rendered exceptional service
  as president general of the National Society Daughters of the
  American Revolution; and
         WHEREAS, The first Texas member to serve as president general
  of the DAR, Mrs. Young was elected to a three-year term in 2013; she
  ably leads a staff of 140 personnel at DAR national headquarters in
  Washington, D.C., and oversees the nonprofit's nearly 3,000
  chapters across the United States and 14 other countries; she also
  serves as a guiding light for the group's 177,000 members who are
  working to advance the society's mission of encouraging meaningful
  public service, enhancing public awareness of vital issues, and
  promoting education, patriotism, and historic preservation; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Young has been a DAR member for more than three
  and a half decades and has held numerous leadership positions at the
  local and state levels, as well as with the national organization;
  during her three-year tenure as state regent of Texas, she led such
  noteworthy projects as production of the award-winning "Today's
  DAR" membership recruitment video, exhibition of the DAR Museum
  quilt at the International Quilt Festival in Houston, establishment
  of a monument honoring the patriots of the American Revolution
  buried in Texas, and restoration of the historic Texas Governor's
  Mansion; she subsequently served as recording secretary general, an
  executive role in which she was responsible for supervising the
  documentation of the proceedings of the national society; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Young is blessed in all her endeavors with the
  love and encouragement of her husband, Steve, and she takes
  tremendous pride in their two children and two grandsons; and
         WHEREAS, Through her steadfast commitment to service and her
  inspiring leadership skills, Lynn Young has bolstered the
  worthwhile efforts of the DAR and has made a positive difference in
  countless lives, and she is indeed deserving of recognition for her
  exemplary record of accomplishment; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby commend Lynn Forney Young on her notable service
  as president general of the National Society Daughters of the
  American Revolution and extend to her sincere best wishes for
  continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mrs. Young as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
