R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Countless lives were touched by the kindness and |
|
generosity of José "Joe" Monsivais of El Paso, who passed away on |
|
May 14, 2015, at the age of 45; and |
|
WHEREAS, A graduate of the University of Houston Law Center, |
|
Joe Monsivais spent his career in public service, working as an |
|
assistant public defender and as an assistant attorney with El Paso |
|
County, the District Attorney's Office, and the U.S. Attorney's |
|
Office; among other accomplishments, he helped develop a program |
|
aimed at preventing domestic abuse and trained police officers in |
|
the use of cameras for interviewing victims of violence; moreover, |
|
he was known for his caring mentorship of numerous young criminal |
|
justice professionals; and |
|
WHEREAS, Above all else, Mr. Monsivais was devoted to his |
|
wife, Amy, and his children, Cassandra, Madeleine, and Thomas; in |
|
his free time, he enjoyed pursuing his love of motorcycles, |
|
running, and other outdoor activities and taking road trips with |
|
his family to points of interest throughout the Southwest; and |
|
WHEREAS, Although his time on this earth was far too brief, |
|
Joe Monsivais inspired others through his quiet example of hard |
|
work, compassion, and sincerity, and he leaves behind a record of |
|
service that his loved ones can remember with pride; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Joe Monsivais and |
|
extend deepest sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, |
|
Amy; to his daughters, Cassandra and Madeleine; to his son, Thomas; |
|
to his mother, Estela; to his father, José; to his stepmother, |
|
Diane; to his siblings, Carolina, Jeannette, Daniel, Sharon, and |
|
Suzanne; to Thomas and Madeleine's mother, Elizabeth; and to his |
|
other relatives and many friends; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Joe |
|
Monsivais. |
