H.R. No. 3367

R E S O L U T I O N

WHEREAS, Dr. Sophia Davis-Fields was honored by the KEW Learning Academy in Houston at its eighth annual Profiles of Prominence Awards Banquet and Dinner Dance on May 29, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Organized around the principles of knowledge, education, and work, KEW Learning Academy was founded in 2008 with the goal of improving the lives of high-need and at-risk individuals in the Greater Houston area through a variety of educational and mentoring programs; the nonprofit organization has partnered with a number of worthy groups to develop lifelong learners and to encourage achievement in the areas of science, technology, engineering, agriculture, the arts, and mathematics; and

WHEREAS, Each year at the Profiles of Prominence Awards Banquet, KEW Academy honors outstanding citizens who have demonstrated excellence in their respective fields, and Dr. Davis-Fields was commended for her contributions in education and community service; and

WHEREAS, With her receipt of this tribute, Dr. Sophia Davis-Fields has garnered well-deserved recognition for her exemplary record of professional and civic engagement, and she may take justifiable pride in her accomplishments; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Dr. Sophia Davis-Fields on her selection as a 2015 honoree at the KEW Learning Academy's Profiles of Prominence Awards Banquet and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Dr. Davis-Fields as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
