R E S O L U T I O N

|
|
WHEREAS, Maritza Cordova has ably served in the office of |
|
|
State Representative Gene Wu as part of the Project PLACE program at |
|
|
the Baker-Ripley Neighborhood Center in southwest Houston; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Project PLACE is an intergenerational family |
|
|
literacy program that aims to improve developmental, educational, |
|
|
and social and emotional outcomes and achievements for parents and |
|
|
children; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A student in the program, Ms. Cordova volunteered in |
|
|
the district office of Representative Wu, where she provided vital |
|
|
assistance in handling a wide variety of challenging tasks; in |
|
|
addition to learning more about the legislative process and the |
|
|
issues facing citizens of the Lone Star State, she has gained |
|
|
valuable experience in the field of public service; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A native of El Salvador, Ms. Cordova credits her |
|
|
involvement with Project PLACE for the unparalleled opportunity she |
|
|
has had to further develop her English and professional talents |
|
|
while assisting the district office in providing constituent |
|
|
services to District 137's Spanish-speaking constituents; in all |
|
|
her endeavors, she enjoys the love and support of her husband, |
|
|
Pedro, and her son, Diego; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Maritza Cordova has performed her duties at the |
|
|
district office with skill and dedication, and she is indeed |
|
|
deserving of special recognition for her fine work; now, therefore, |
|
|
be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby commend Maritza Cordova for her service in the |
|
|
district office of State Representative Gene Wu as part of the |
|
|
Project PLACE program and extend to her sincere best wishes for |
|
|
continued success in all her endeavors; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Cordova as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
