R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The 80th birthday of an esteemed Texan is truly
  cause for celebration, and James R. Gasper of Missouri City is
  reaching that impressive milestone on the Fourth of July, 2015; and
         WHEREAS, Jim Gasper was born in 1935 to James and Anne Gasper
  on the South Side of Chicago, where he attended Catholic schools and
  graduated from St. Ignatius High School; after earning his
  bachelor's degree from John Carroll University in Cleveland in
  1957, he was commissioned a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army and
  was stationed as a special services officer at Camp Leroy Johnson in
  New Orleans; and
         WHEREAS, Completing his military service at the rank of
  captain, Mr. Gasper remained in New Orleans and took a job with Dun &
  Bradstreet; in 1961, he met Georgia Ann Fredrickson, and they
  married the following year; the couple began a family while
  Mr. Gasper continued his education at Loyola University New
  Orleans; and
         WHEREAS, In 1969, Mr. Gasper and his family moved to Houston,
  where he pursued a career in hospital administration, working as
  director of government reporting, first for Hermann Hospital and
  then the Memorial Hospital system, and earning a master's degree in
  health care administration at Texas Woman's University; later in
  his career, he served as coordinator of patient satisfaction at
  Southwest Hospital, and he retired in 2003 as a reimbursement
  specialist at The University of Texas Medical Branch; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Gasper takes delight in spending time with his
  wife, Georgia, his children, Diedra, Paul, Henry, and Charles, and
  his eight grandchildren at the family beach house in Galveston; he
  has been active in his community as a Special Olympics coach, as the
  treasurer of two homeowners' associations, as director and
  secretary of the Palmer Water Utility Water District, and as a board
  member for the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance; a man of
  strong religious faith, he has taught in the Learning English
  Ministry at St. Laurence Catholic Church in Sugar Land, brings
  meals to shut-ins with the Helping Hands Ministry, and attends the
  church's Tuesday morning Bible study class; and
         WHEREAS, Respected and admired by all who are privileged to
  know him, Jim Gasper may reflect with great satisfaction on a
  lifetime of achievement, and it is a pleasure to join his many
  friends and loved ones in honoring him on this memorable occasion;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate James Gasper on his 80th birthday
  and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and,
  be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Gasper as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
