R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, For more than two decades, nurse practitioner Tim
  Flynn has served the officials and employees of the legislative
  community with skill and good humor; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Flynn began his career as an emergency medical
  technician, and he went on to earn a nursing degree from The
  University of Texas at Austin; he first served as the Capitol nurse
  during a special session in 1992, and the following year, he was
  hired as the legislature's permanent, year-round health care
  provider; in 2002, he earned his master's degree in nursing from UT
  Austin, graduating with a perfect 4.0 grade point average and
  earning certification as a nurse practitioner; and
         WHEREAS, Over the course of a year, Mr. Flynn averages more
  than 4,000 visits, serving as the friendly and capable "small-town
  doctor" to the community of elected officials and state employees
  who work in the Capitol Complex, as well as citizens who are
  visiting; he is assisted by the physician-of-the-day during the
  biennial legislative session, but during the 18 months of the
  interim, he is the sole health care provider at the Capitol clinic,
  diagnosing and treating a wide range of minor ailments and saving
  his patients the time and expense of a doctor's appointment; his
  professional peers have recognized his expertise with the 1994
  Community Health Nurse of the Year Award from District 5 of the
  Texas Nurses Association and the 2007 Austin Advanced Practice
  Nurses Alliance Award of Excellence; and
         WHEREAS, A calm, welcoming, and familiar presence in the
  State Capitol, Mr. Flynn has earned the affection, respect, and
  gratitude of countless legislators and state employees over the
  years with his expert and compassionate care; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby commend Tim Flynn for his continuing outstanding
  service as Capitol nurse practitioner and extend to him sincere
  best wishes for many more years of success and happiness; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Flynn as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
