R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Acclaimed singer and songwriter Miranda Lambert |
|
collected four trophies at the 50th annual Academy of Country Music |
|
Awards held in Arlington on April 19, 2015; and |
|
WHEREAS, An 18-time winner going into this year's event, |
|
Ms. Lambert shone brightly yet again on one of country music's |
|
biggest nights; she took home accolades for Female Vocalist of the |
|
Year, Album of the Year for Platinum, and Song of the Year for |
|
"Automatic," and she was one of just seven recipients of the 50th |
|
Anniversary Milestone Award, which recognized her notable |
|
achievement of being the most awarded solo female artist in the |
|
program's history; and |
|
WHEREAS, A native of Lindale, Ms. Lambert embarked on her |
|
career as a recording artist with her independently issued |
|
self-titled debut in 2001, and she has since recorded five |
|
major-label releases, all of which have reached number one; a |
|
mainstay on the hit parade, this platinum-selling singer has scored |
|
17 top-20 hits, including four chart-toppers, and has won 2 Grammy |
|
Awards, 4 CMT Music Awards, and 12 Country Music Association |
|
Awards; and |
|
WHEREAS, Miranda Lambert has blazed her own path in the genre |
|
throughout her stellar career, expanding the boundaries of outlaw |
|
country as a strong voice for female empowerment, and it is a |
|
pleasure to honor her for her significant contributions to the |
|
musical heritage of the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Miranda Lambert on her four wins at |
|
the 2015 Academy of Country Music Awards and that she be extended |
|
sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Ms. Lambert as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
