R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the |
|
passing of Mary Katherine Scott of Mineola on January 27, 2014, at |
|
the age of 88; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born in Hollis, Oklahoma, on May 25, 1925, Katherine |
|
Scott graduated from Hollis High School and went on to earn her |
|
bachelor's degree from Oklahoma State University; she was a member |
|
of the Omicron Nu and Orange and Black Quill honor societies; after |
|
completing a dietetic internship at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, |
|
Missouri, she joined the staff of Baylor Hospital in Dallas; and |
|
WHEREAS, She married Dr. John Scott in 1950, and two years |
|
later, the couple settled in Mineola, where they raised their sons, |
|
Bob and Bill; in later years, Mrs. Scott knew the joy of becoming |
|
the proud grandmother of Jessica, Cheyenna, Katie, and Will; and |
|
WHEREAS, Benefiting her fellow citizens, Mrs. Scott served |
|
as PTA president, and she gave generously of her time and talents to |
|
numerous civic organizations; she was a faithful servant of her |
|
Lord Jesus Christ, and she and her husband positively influenced |
|
countless lives; in 1970, she was named Mineola Woman of the Year; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, Katherine Scott is deeply missed, but those who were |
|
fortunate enough to know her will forever remember her devotion to |
|
her family, her faith, and her community; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Mary Katherine Scott |
|
and extend sincere condolences to her loved ones; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Katherine |
|
Scott. |
