R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Kenneth W. Threlkeld of Tyler is celebrating his
  50th anniversary in the insurance business in 2015, and this
  milestone presents a fitting opportunity to take note of his
  outstanding record of success and service to the community; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Threlkeld grew up on a farm near Ladonia, and he
  joined the U.S. Army in 1955; he went on to earn a bachelor's degree
  in business under the G.I. Bill from East Texas State College, now
  Texas A&M University--Commerce; and
         WHEREAS, After working as an accountant and auditor for
  Squyres, Johnson, Squyres in Tyler, Mr. Threlkeld began his career
  in insurance with a brief stint at State Farm before joining the
  Clyde & Prestridge Insurance Agency as an agent and accountant;
  within a year, he bought a half interest in the company, and he
  owned the agency outright by 1974; after merging with other
  agencies, he established his own company, Threlkeld & Company
  Insurance, in 1982; and
         WHEREAS, Today, Threlkeld & Company is one of the largest
  full-service insurance agencies in East Texas, and Mr. Threlkeld
  serves as its chief executive officer, while his son, Todd
  Threlkeld, who joined the agency in 1988, serves as president; a
  number of TCI employees have been with the company for many years,
  ensuring reliability and continuity of service for its customers;
  and
         WHEREAS, Long committed to advancing worthy causes and
  organizations, Mr. Threlkeld holds 50-year certificates from the
  Masonic Lodge, the Scottish Rite, and the Shriners; he is the
  founder and chair of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation for East Texas,
  and he has served as president, chair, and member of the board of
  the Texas Agricultural Lifetime Leadership program at Texas A&M
  University, the Texas A&M University--Commerce Foundation, and the
  American Cancer Society; an ardent patron of the Tyler Cattle
  Barons' Gala, a fund-raiser for the ACS, he is famous for presenting
  custom cowboy boots to those who chair the annual event; and
         WHEREAS, In addition, Mr. Threlkeld and the staff of his
  company support the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, the American
  Cancer Society's Relay for Life, the Salvation Army's holiday
  Kettle Drive, and the Junior Achievement Bowl-A-Thon; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Threlkeld's many awards include the Build East
  Texas Award of Excellence from the Texas House of Representatives,
  the W. E. "Bill" and Mary Clements Outstanding Leadership in
  Agriculture Memorial Award, and the Cystic Fibrosis Breath of Life
  Award; in 2015, he was recognized as a Distinguished Alumnus of
  Texas A&M University--Commerce; and
         WHEREAS, Kenneth Threlkeld has proven himself a business and
  civic leader of great vision and ability, and it is a privilege to
  recognize him for all he has done to help build a brighter future
  for East Texas and for his fellow citizens; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby honor Kenneth W. Threlkeld for his 50 years in
  the insurance industry and for his outstanding civic leadership and
  extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Threlkeld as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
