R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The city of Marshall lost an admired resident with
  the passing of Jennifer Larned on May 23, 2015, at the age of 64; and
         WHEREAS, Jennifer Larned was born in Fort Leavenworth,
  Kansas, on August 9, 1950, to Royce and Betty Larned; two years
  after moving with her family to Marshall, she graduated as a member
  of the Marshall High School Class of 1968, and she subsequently
  earned a bachelor's degree from East Texas Baptist College; she
  went on to enjoy a fulfilling career as secretary and comptroller of
  the local Head Start program, for which she maintained accurate
  documentation and ensured compliance with federal government
  regulations; she also handled the funds and grants used to finance
  the restoration of the historic Harrison County courthouse; and
         WHEREAS, In addition to her busy professional life,
  Ms. Larned explored her love of the stage as a cofounder of the
  Amity Community Theatre and as a theatrical technician for the
  Opera House Theatre Players and other amateur companies in
  Marshall, Jefferson, and Longview; though she preferred the
  behind-the-scenes action of lighting, set building, and costuming,
  she acquired a performance credit with her role as the nurse in a
  production of The Man Who Came to Dinner; and
         WHEREAS, Deeply committed to her community, Ms. Larned
  benefited her local Rotary Club as district secretary and was
  honored by the organization as a Paul Harris Fellow, and she also
  was active with the Greater Marshall Chamber of Commerce and the
  Marshall Regional Arts Council; she further distinguished herself
  as an enthusiastic supporter of the Harrison County Democratic
  Party and the Marshall/Harrison County League of Women Voters, and
  she shared her time and talents with numerous political campaigns;
  a staunch advocate of preserving the area's historic buildings and
  cemeteries, she also served as chair of the Harrison County
  Historical Commission and was involved with a number of other local
  historic and cultural organizations, and she wrote or edited the
  text of several of the county's historical markers; and
         WHEREAS, Jennifer Larned was a significant asset to her
  community and an inspiring role model to many, and she leaves behind
  a record of service that her loved ones can remember with pride;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Jennifer Larned and
  extend sincere condolences to the members of her family: to her
  siblings, Chester Larned and his wife, Sharon, and Penelope
  Narramore and her husband, Roger; to her niece and nephews, Keeley
  Pratt and her husband, David, Bryan Larned and his wife, Amanda, and
  William and Clay Narramore; to her great-nieces and great-nephews,
  Addison, Morgan, and Brynnan Pratt and Christian and Alecia Perez;
  to her cousin, Candyce Clayton; to her aunt, Jan Clayton; and to her
  other relatives and many friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Jennifer
  Larned.
