R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, A life made rich through meaningful service drew to |
|
a close with the passing of Bill Lacy of Troup on May 7, 2015, at the |
|
age of 46; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born in Tyler on October 28, 1968, to Jerry and |
|
Dorothy Lacy, Bill Lacy earned an associate's degree from Tyler |
|
Junior College and a bachelor's degree from Sam Houston State |
|
University; he was attending Texas A&M University when he met the |
|
love of his life, Aida, and the couple later wed; over the course of |
|
their marriage, they nurtured a rewarding union that was made even |
|
richer with the addition of two daughters, Katherine and Tiffany; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Lacy worked in retail for many years before |
|
embarking on a career in the banking industry, and he eventually |
|
became vice president and manager of the Troup branch of Kilgore |
|
National Bank; active in his community, he served on the boards of |
|
the New Creation Foundation and the Troup Independent School |
|
District, and he was elected to the office of mayor in 2014; he also |
|
shared his time and talents with the local rotary club and chamber |
|
of commerce, Troup Cares, and First Baptist Church Mixon, where he |
|
served as a Sunday school teacher and a youth group leader; a man of |
|
strong faith, he organized a mayor's prayer breakfast that brought |
|
together many area residents; and |
|
WHEREAS, In his leisure time, Mr. Lacy was an ardent comic |
|
book collector and enjoyed making new friends at conventions; |
|
moreover, he hosted a costume contest each Halloween invariably |
|
dressed as one of his favorite characters, and he helped organize |
|
and decorate a superhero-themed dinner in behalf of the Salvation |
|
Army; and |
|
WHEREAS, While his journey on this earth ended far too soon, |
|
Bill Lacy leaves behind a legacy of good works that will long |
|
resonate in the Troup community, and he will be fondly remembered by |
|
all who had the good fortune to know him; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Bill Lacy and extend |
|
sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his wife, Aida |
|
Lacy; to his daughters, Katherine and Tiffany Lacy; to his parents, |
|
Jerry and Dorothy Lacy; to his uncle, David Persinger, and his wife, |
|
Bobbie; to his aunt, Mable Sayes, and her husband, Cecil; to his |
|
in-laws, Jose, Catalina, Maria, and Jerry Ovalle, Sandra and |
|
Araceli Gonzales, Delia Arreola, and Joe Ovalle Jr.; to his special |
|
friend, Colton Lackey; and to his many other friends and relatives; |
|
and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Bill Lacy. |
