R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A full and generous life came to a close with the
  passing of Ruth Gibson Moore on March 4, 2015, at the age of 94; and
         WHEREAS, Born in Chickasha, Oklahoma, on July 6, 1920,
  Mrs. Moore moved to Texas at an early age; she grew up on a dairy
  farm near Alvin, and as a young woman, she could often be found
  singing to the cows from horseback and roller-skating in the barn;
  and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Moore finished high school a year early and
  went on to graduate with honors from St. Mary's Infirmary School of
  Nursing in Galveston; in March 1941, she joined the U.S. Army Nurse
  Corps as a registered nurse and second lieutenant, and she managed
  the obstetrics unit at the army hospital in Big Spring during World
  War II; and
         WHEREAS, The former Ruth Gibson met the love of her life,
  G. Tom Moore Jr., while serving her country; on January 2, 1942, the
  couple married in the chaplain's tent at Camp Swift in Brownwood;
  over the course of a rewarding union that spanned nearly seven
  decades, they became the proud parents of a daughter, Judy, and two
  sons, Tom and Bobby, and they took great delight in their seven
  grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, Relocating to her husband's hometown of Beaumont,
  Mrs. Moore established and operated an obstetrics center called the
  Beaumont Infirmary; Mr. Moore's career as a district manager with
  Wyeth Pharmaceuticals took them to Austin in 1958 and to San Antonio
  a decade later, and in her retirement, Mrs. Moore devoted her
  talents to hosting her famous cocktail parties for a wide circle of
  friends; the consummate hostess, she ensured the family's social
  success with her exceptional culinary skills and her wonderful
  sense of humor; she later returned to nursing at Nix Hospital in San
  Antonio when her children left home; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Moore was an active congregant at St. Luke's
  Episcopal Church in San Antonio; she served on Altar Guild and
  worked at the Green Door Thrift Shop, and in her free time, she
  enjoyed golfing, boating on Lake Austin, and playing bridge;
  following her husband's retirement, the couple traveled across the
  country in their motor home; and
         WHEREAS, Beloved for her strength, her compassion, and her
  hearty laugh, Ruth Moore touched many lives during her journey on
  this earth, and those who shared in her love and affection will
  forever hold her close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Ruth Gibson Moore
  and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her
  daughter, Judy Sprowls, and her husband, Steve; to her
  grandchildren, Garrett Sprowls, Kristin Sprowls Gilbert and her
  husband, Phil, Michele Moore Hirata and her husband, Jeff, Tom
  Moore IV and his wife, Aaryn, Robby Moore and his wife, Stephanie,
  Christopher Moore and his wife, Rikky, and Ashley Moore; to her
  great-grandchildren, Ainsley Gilbert, Gennifer and Tyler Hirata,
  and Kaleb, Christopher, Trey, Maddy, and C. J. Moore; to her
  daughter-in-law, Sue Moore; to her brother, Rex Gibson; and to her
  other relatives and many friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Ruth Gibson
  Moore.
