R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Family and friends will forever treasure their
  memories of Bobbie Ray Hughes of Mineola, who died on February 4,
  2014, at the age of 78; and
         WHEREAS, Bobbie Ray Hughes was born in Golden on March 7,
  1935, to Ernest and Frances Hughes; over the course of a varied
  career, he worked as a farmer, a Texas Highway Patrol officer, and a
  carpenter; for 25 years, this esteemed Texan served as
  superintendent of Golden Water Supply Corporation, until his
  retirement in 1997; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Hughes was a leader in his community throughout
  his life; he was a member of the Alba-Golden Independent School
  District Board of Trustees, and for 10 years, he served on the Wood
  County Economic Development Commission; a longtime Mason, he
  belonged to Mineola Masonic Lodge No. 502, and he also helped to
  found the Golden Sweet Potato Festival; a man of strong religious
  faith, he was active in his local church, Golden Bible Chapel; and
         WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Hughes enjoyed the love
  and support of his wife, Margie, with whom he shared six decades,
  and he took great pride in their three daughters, Cindy, Patty, and
  Sandy; and
         WHEREAS, Devoted to his family and his community, Bobbie Ray
  Hughes made a meaningful difference in the lives of his loved ones
  and fellow citizens alike, and his contributions will be fondly
  remembered for years to come; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Bobbie Ray Hughes and
  extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his
  wife, Margie Hughes; to his daughters, Cindy Davidson and her
  husband, Roy, Patty Sinclair and her husband, Duffie, and Sandy
  Nichols and her husband, Ivan; to his brothers, Sam Hughes and his
  wife, Madelyn, Bill Hughes and his wife, Jo Ann, and Mike Hughes and
  his wife, Joanna; to his sister, Anna Joyce Hughes; to his
  grandchildren, Tully Davidson and his wife, Molly, and Jeffery
  Davidson; to his great-grandchildren, Hunter, Dylan, and Sawyer
  Davidson; to his nieces and nephews; and to his many other relatives
  and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Bobbie Ray
  Hughes.
