R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Honorary Texan Nick Adams has garnered national |
|
|
acclaim for his book The American Boomerang: How the World's |
|
|
Greatest 'Turnaround' Nation Will Do It Again; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Published in 2014, The American Boomerang makes a |
|
|
compelling case for American exceptionalism, and it has since been |
|
|
praised by a number of well-known conservative figures and |
|
|
organizations; Mr. Adams's keen insights on national issues have |
|
|
led to speaking engagements in more than 25 states, as well as in |
|
|
England, Germany, and South Korea; lauded for his public speaking |
|
|
and debating skills, he has appeared on a variety of major |
|
|
television and radio programs, and his work has been published |
|
|
online and in newspapers around the world; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A native Australian, Mr. Adams was the |
|
|
valedictorian of his high school class in English, German, and |
|
|
legal studies and had the honor of receiving a literary prize; he |
|
|
went on to earn undergraduate and postgraduate degrees at the |
|
|
University of Sydney; at the age of 21, he was elected the youngest |
|
|
deputy mayor in Australian history, and in 2007, he was appointed an |
|
|
Australian justice of the peace; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This accomplished gentleman currently serves as a |
|
|
Centennial Institute Policy Fellow at Colorado Christian |
|
|
University; he was named an honorary Texan by Governor Rick Perry in |
|
|
July 2013, and he calls the Lone Star State his second home; a |
|
|
survivor of neuroblastoma, a rare form of childhood cancer, he has |
|
|
visited oncology wards in various countries, where he has donated |
|
|
gifts to young patients and provided encouragement to their |
|
|
parents; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Through his literary endeavors, Nick Adams has |
|
|
raised awareness of the many qualities that make our great country |
|
|
unique, and his contributions are indeed deserving of special |
|
|
recognition; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Nick Adams on the success of his |
|
|
book The American Boomerang: How the World's Greatest 'Turnaround' |
|
|
Nation Will Do It Again and extend to him sincere best wishes for |
|
|
the future; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. Adams as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
