R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Plano West High School girls' basketball team |
|
|
enjoyed an outstanding 2014-2015 season, claiming a district |
|
|
championship and advancing to the regional finals of the University |
|
|
Interscholastic League 6A state playoffs; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Playing under the direction of head coach Kristen |
|
|
Perry and assistant coach Kristen Grassi, the Lady Wolves finished |
|
|
the regular season with a perfect record in league play to capture |
|
|
the District 6-6A championship and earn a berth in the state |
|
|
playoffs; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, After opening postseason play with a dominating |
|
|
victory over Fossil Ridge High School, Plano West went on to defeat |
|
|
Trinity and Cedar Hill High Schools to set up a regional semifinal |
|
|
showdown against the squad from Amarillo High School; there, the |
|
|
Lady Wolves took a six-point lead into halftime, and they held off a |
|
|
furious second-half rally from their opponents in a tightly |
|
|
contested, 52-48 triumph; matching up in the regional finals with |
|
|
their district rivals from Flower Mound High School, Plano West |
|
|
mounted an impressive comeback in the overtime period but |
|
|
ultimately fell by a score of 53-50 to conclude their playoff run; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Lady Wolves finished their notable 2014-2015 |
|
|
campaign with an overall record of 30 wins and just 5 losses; the |
|
|
success that Plano West realized this season stemmed from their |
|
|
team-oriented approach to the game, with valuable contributions |
|
|
coming from each member of the roster: Sydney Skinner, Kyrie |
|
|
McNeil, Natalie Chou, Morgann Yancey, Callie Owens, Amy Hartleroad, |
|
|
Jalyn Hodge, Daria Cosgrove, Justine Montgomery, Erin Parker, and |
|
|
Vuye Magalela; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Through skill, hard work, and an unwavering |
|
|
commitment to excellence, the Plano West athletes established |
|
|
themselves as strong playoff contenders, and their accomplishments |
|
|
are a source of pride and inspiration for their school and |
|
|
community; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate the Plano West High School girls' |
|
|
basketball team on its memorable 2014-2015 season and extend to the |
|
|
team's players, coaches, and staff sincere best wishes for the |
|
|
future; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
