R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Family and friends will forever treasure their
  memories of retired Bexar County deputy sheriff Ernestine A.
  Ibarra, who died on May 20, 2015, at the age of 64; and
         WHEREAS, Tina Ibarra was born on January 27, 1951, to Ernest
  Garza Sr. and Annie Mae Mora, and she received her education at
  St. James Catholic School and St. Francis Academy in San Antonio;
  and
         WHEREAS, In 1980, Ms. Ibarra found herself divorced with two
  small children to support, and even though she didn't know how to
  drive, she bought a car and left it on the lot for a week until she
  could learn; the following year, she began her exemplary 23-year
  career in law enforcement when she became a deputy with the Bexar
  County Sheriff's Office; she was certified as a county jailer in
  1982 and as a basic peace officer in 1983; and
         WHEREAS, Two years later, Ms. Ibarra was selected over two
  male candidates to become the first female bailiff in Bexar County
  history, and she served in that position until her retirement in
  2004; and
         WHEREAS, A role model to many, Tina Ibarra lived a rich and
  purposeful life, and she leaves behind a record of service that her
  loved ones can remember with pride; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Ernestine A. Ibarra
  and extend sincere condolences to the members of her family: to her
  sister, Sally Garza-Ruiz; to her daughter, Rose Angela Ibarra, and
  her fiancé, Abel Salinas; to her son, Armando Ibarra, and his wife,
  Dr. Jessica Ibarra; to her grandchildren, Ryan, Brianna, and
  Christian Ibarra and Israel and Iliaj Martinez; and to her other
  relatives and many friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Ernestine
  Ibarra.
