R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Robert Schneider can take well-deserved pride in the
  outstanding service he has rendered to the residents of his
  community as a member of the Austin Independent School District
  Board of Trustees; and
         WHEREAS, A native of Dallas, Robert Ray Schneider was raised
  in an air force family that moved to Alaska and Hawaii before
  settling in San Antonio; after graduating from high school, he
  attended The University of Texas at Austin, where he also spent an
  impressive 30-year career that included work on massively parallel
  computing systems; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Schneider was first elected to the AISD board in
  May 2002, and he now has the distinction of being the longest
  serving member on the board; over the course of his tenure, he has
  chaired the Intergovernmental Relations Committee and the Ad Hoc
  Committee for Policy and Process Review for Site-Based
  Decision-Making, and he has also represented the district as a
  member of the board of directors of the Texas Association of School
  Boards; he has further distinguished himself in his community
  through his service on a number of neighborhood, environmental, and
  school committees and task forces; and
         WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Schneider is blessed with
  the love and encouragement of his wife of 28 years, Kathleen, and
  their four children, Matthew, Kristein, Caitlin, and Andrea; and
         WHEREAS, Through his unwavering commitment to Austin ISD
  students and staff, Robert Schneider is leading the way in
  fostering a supportive and challenging educational environment,
  and he has earned the deep respect and appreciation of his fellow
  Texans; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby honor Robert Schneider for his service on the
  Austin ISD Board of Trustees and extend to him sincere best wishes
  for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Schneider as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
