R E S O L U T I O N
|

|
|
WHEREAS, The Amarillo High School volleyball team achieved |
|
|
great distinction by advancing to the semifinals in the 2014-2015 |
|
|
University Interscholastic League 6A state playoffs; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Lady Sandies turned in triumphant performances |
|
|
against Eastwood, Arlington, Coronado, and Carroll High Schools |
|
|
before defeating Hebron High in the regional final with a 3-1 |
|
|
victory; matching up against Clear Falls High School in the |
|
|
semifinals on November 21, Amarillo put forth a valiant effort but |
|
|
ultimately fell short by a score of 3-0; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Under the guidance of Coach Jan Barker, the Lady |
|
|
Sandies enjoyed an outstanding year, during which they compiled an |
|
|
impressive record of 43 wins and 7 losses and enjoyed a number one |
|
|
ranking in the state for more than half the season; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, With their exceptional skill and unwavering |
|
|
commitment to excellence, the Amarillo Lady Sandies earned a place |
|
|
among the top teams in Texas, and these dedicated competitors are a |
|
|
source of tremendous pride to their classmates and their many |
|
|
supporters in the local community; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate the Amarillo High School |
|
|
volleyball team on reaching the semifinals in the 2014-2015 UIL 6A |
|
|
state playoffs and extend to the team's members and coach sincere |
|
|
best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
