R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Tom Mechler of Amarillo was elected chair of the
  Republican Party of Texas by the State Republican Executive
  Committee at its meeting on March 7, 2015; and
         WHEREAS, Active in politics for some three decades,
  Mr. Mechler previously served as RPT treasurer from September 2010
  to March 2015; he was State Republican Executive SD 28 committeeman
  from 2002 to 2006, and he was RPT State Convention Platform
  committee chair in both 2012 and 2014; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Mechler has served as a delegate to every
  Republican Party of Texas State Convention since 1996, and he was a
  delegate to the national convention in 1988, 2000, and 2012; in
  addition, he served as county GOP chair for Gray County from 1993 to
  2000 and for Armstrong County from 2001 to 2002; and
         WHEREAS, A small business owner, Mr. Mechler graduated magna
  cum laude from Texas A&M University with a bachelor's degree in
  mechanical engineering, and he went on to complete his master's
  degree in business administration at the Wharton School of the
  University of Pennsylvania; he is a volunteer prison chaplain, and
  during almost nine years as a member of the Texas Board of Criminal
  Justice, he served for five years as vice chair; and
         WHEREAS, Tom Mechler has immeasurably benefited the
  Republican Party of Texas through his skilled leadership and
  tireless dedication, and he may indeed reflect with pride on all he
  has accomplished in behalf of his party as he begins his important
  new role; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Tom Mechler on his election as
  chair of the Republican Party of Texas and extend to him sincere
  best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Mechler as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
