R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Tom Mechler of Amarillo was elected chair of the |
|
|
Republican Party of Texas by the State Republican Executive |
|
|
Committee at its meeting on March 7, 2015; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Active in politics for some three decades, |
|
|
Mr. Mechler previously served as RPT treasurer from September 2010 |
|
|
to March 2015; he was State Republican Executive SD 28 committeeman |
|
|
from 2002 to 2006, and he was RPT State Convention Platform |
|
|
committee chair in both 2012 and 2014; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Mechler has served as a delegate to every |
|
|
Republican Party of Texas State Convention since 1996, and he was a |
|
|
delegate to the national convention in 1988, 2000, and 2012; in |
|
|
addition, he served as county GOP chair for Gray County from 1993 to |
|
|
2000 and for Armstrong County from 2001 to 2002; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A small business owner, Mr. Mechler graduated magna |
|
|
cum laude from Texas A&M University with a bachelor's degree in |
|
|
mechanical engineering, and he went on to complete his master's |
|
|
degree in business administration at the Wharton School of the |
|
|
University of Pennsylvania; he is a volunteer prison chaplain, and |
|
|
during almost nine years as a member of the Texas Board of Criminal |
|
|
Justice, he served for five years as vice chair; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Tom Mechler has immeasurably benefited the |
|
|
Republican Party of Texas through his skilled leadership and |
|
|
tireless dedication, and he may indeed reflect with pride on all he |
|
|
has accomplished in behalf of his party as he begins his important |
|
|
new role; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Tom Mechler on his election as |
|
|
chair of the Republican Party of Texas and extend to him sincere |
|
|
best wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. Mechler as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
