H.R. No. 3605

R E S O L U T I O N

WHEREAS, The boys' wrestling team of Dumas High School made an outstanding showing at the 2015 University Interscholastic League State Tournament, held on February 20 and 21 in Garland; and

WHEREAS, Guided by head coach Clint Chamblin, the Demons ultimately placed fourth at the meet after tallying a total of 90.5 points against the top 5A teams in Texas; and

WHEREAS, Leading the way were Martin Mendoza in the 106-pound weight class and Randy Toledo in the 126-pound division, both of whom were crowned state champions after winning each of their tournament matches; and

WHEREAS, Zach Garza added to the Dumas medal count by winning bronze in the 145-pound weight class, while Talen Widener won four bouts at 138 pounds, and Landon Williams triumphed in two matches in the 113-pound division; in addition, Addison Trujillo, Alan Ortega, Marcos Medina, and Miguel Baray all represented Dumas High in their respective weight classes at the meet; and

WHEREAS, The Dumas Demons wrestlers demonstrated remarkable skill and tenacity throughout the 2014-2015 campaign, and their achievements are a source of great pride to their school and their many supporters in the community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate the Dumas High School boys' wrestling team on its success at the 2015 UIL State Tournament and extend to all those involved with the team sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
