R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, The girls' cross-country team of Stratford High
  School achieved great distinction with its performance at the 2014
  University Interscholastic League Cross Country State
  Championships; and
         WHEREAS, Joining the top high school competitors in Texas at
  the state meet in Round Rock on November 8, the Stratford team
  included seven runners: Samantha Gonzalez, Vanessa Gonzalez,
  Sidney Turner, Alexie Wright, Sonia Lopez, Yadhira Chavoya, and
  Kelsey Pickens; and
         WHEREAS, The Elks posted a combined time of 1 hour, 5 minutes,
  58.10 seconds, while negotiating the challenging course, claiming
  fifth place in the Class 2A team standings; and
         WHEREAS, By excelling in the state's premier showcase for
  high school cross-country runners, these dedicated athletes ably
  represented their school and community, and they will cherish their
  memories of this outstanding accomplishment for years to come; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the members of the girls'
  cross-country team of Stratford High School on their fifth-place
  finish in Class 2A at the 2014 University Interscholastic League
  State Championships and extend to them sincere best wishes for the
  future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
