R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The baseball team of Banquete High School put |
|
|
together an outstanding season in 2015 as it captured a district |
|
|
championship and advanced to the regional semifinals of the |
|
|
University Interscholastic League 3A playoffs; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, After going undefeated in league play and claiming |
|
|
the District 32-3A title, the Bulldogs made an exciting run through |
|
|
the postseason; they began with a dominating victory over Monte |
|
|
Alto High School in the opening round of play before dispatching |
|
|
Taft High School in two straight games to win the area championship; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Bulldogs next took the field against Falfurrias |
|
|
High School in the regional quarterfinals, where they continued |
|
|
their fine play by sweeping the series with a 9-1 victory in Game 1 |
|
|
and a 9-4 triumph in Game 2; in the regional semifinals against Lago |
|
|
Vista, Banquete took an early lead in the series by claiming a 3-2 |
|
|
extra innings victory in the opening game before losing a tightly |
|
|
contested Game 2 by a score of 6-5; the team put up a determined |
|
|
effort in the deciding contest but ultimately fell short to bring |
|
|
its memorable season to a close; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Demonstrating admirable teamwork, the Bulldogs |
|
|
received valuable contributions throughout the year from each |
|
|
member of the roster: Richard Sanchez, Anthony Gomez, Greg |
|
|
Costilla, Jonathon Medina, Marc Riddell, R. J. Rios, Cooper |
|
|
Wildman, Michael Reyes, Santos Limon, Christian Garcia, Joseph |
|
|
Gutierrez, Bryce Birdwell, Ryan Lopez, Eduardo Cedillo, Jason |
|
|
Garcia, Jake Mijares, Jarren Hernandez, Dylan Elizondo, Tommy |
|
|
Munoz, Ian Nash, and A. D. Pena; these dedicated athletes were |
|
|
guided by head coach Rusty Miller and assistant coaches Lawrence |
|
|
Neslony and Ruben Robinson; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, By dedicating themselves to excellence and putting |
|
|
in many hours of hard work, the Banquete Bulldogs established |
|
|
themselves as strong title contenders, and their accomplishments |
|
|
are a source of pride for their school and their many supporters in |
|
|
the community; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate the Banquete High School baseball |
|
|
team on its successful 2015 season and extend to the team's players, |
|
|
coaches, and staff sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it |
|
|
further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
