R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The McLennan Community College baseball team
  enjoyed a memorable 2014-2015 season, winning the regional title
  and advancing all the way to the finals at the National Junior
  College Athletic Association Division I World Series, held in Grand
  Junction, Colorado, from May 23 through 30; and
         WHEREAS, After compiling an impressive record of 37 wins and
  18 losses in the regular season, the Highlanders triumphed in four
  of five games in the NJCAA Region V baseball tournament to reach the
  finals against the Odessa College Wranglers, whom they defeated
  with a decisive 10-2 victory to claim the regional crown; the
  championship-caliber performance by McLennan was all the more
  special because it garnered the school its first berth in the NJCAA
  World Series since 1983; and
         WHEREAS, The Highlanders continued their inspired play in the
  national tournament, marching to the finals with wins against San
  Jacinto College, Walters State Community College, and Northwest
  Florida State College, the latter of which they met again in the
  championship game; there, McLennan put forth a valiant effort but
  ultimately fell short by a score of 15-1; and
         WHEREAS, Relying on disciplined teamwork all year long, the
  Highlanders received vital contributions from each member of the
  roster and further benefited from the able guidance of head coach
  Mitch Thompson and assistant coach Chris Berry; and
         WHEREAS, The success of the McLennan Community College
  baseball program is a source of tremendous pride to the school's
  students, faculty, alumni, and supporters, and the members of the
  team may take great pride in their exceptional achievements; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the McLennan Community College
  baseball team on winning the 2015 NJCAA Region V championship title
  and reaching the NJCAA Division I World Series finals and extend to
  the team's players, coaches, and staff sincere best wishes for
  continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
