A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the use of brokerage statements to meet certain |
|
|
requirements for reports of political contributions and |
|
|
expenditures. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 254.036, Election Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Subsection (a-1) to read as follows: |
|
|
(a-1) A report filed under this chapter may satisfy the |
|
|
requirements of Sections 254.031(a)(11), (12), and (13) by |
|
|
including a brokerage statement with the filed report that contains |
|
|
all of the information required under those sections. The |
|
|
brokerage statement, if filed by computer diskette, modem, or other |
|
|
means of electronic transfer, may be submitted in PDF format. |
|
|
SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only |
|
|
to a report filed under Chapter 254, Election Code, that is due on |
|
|
or after the effective date of this Act. A report filed under that |
|
|
chapter that is due before the effective date of this Act is |
|
|
governed by the law in effect on the date the report is due, and the |
|
|
former law is continued in effect for that purpose. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect January 1, 2016. |
