A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to a classroom visual aid stipend for public school
  classroom teachers.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Subchapter I, Chapter 21, Education Code, is
  amended by adding Section 21.4141 to read as follows:
         Sec. 21.4141.  STIPEND FOR CLASSROOM VISUAL AIDS.  (a)  
  Subject to Subsection (b), a school district shall provide to each
  classroom teacher a classroom visual aid stipend in the amount of
  $50 each semester. A teacher may use a stipend under this section
  only to acquire visual aids for classroom instruction.
         (b)  This section applies only if a school district receives
  additional state aid under Section 42.25131.
         SECTION 2.  Subchapter E, Chapter 42, Education Code, is
  amended by adding Section 42.25131 to read as follows:
         Sec. 42.25131. ADDITIONAL STATE AID FOR CLASSROOM VISUAL AID
  STIPENDS. (a)  To fund classroom visual aid stipends under Section
  21.4141, a school district, including a school district that is
  otherwise ineligible for state aid under this chapter, is entitled
  each school year to additional state aid in an amount equal to the
  product of $100 multiplied by the number of classroom teachers
  employed by the district that school year.
         (b)  The commissioner may adopt rules to implement this
  section.
         SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
