A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to increasing the optional county fee for registering a |
|
|
motor vehicle. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 502.401(a), Transportation Code, is |
|
|
amended to read as follows: |
|
|
(a) The commissioners court of a county by order may impose |
|
|
an additional fee, not to exceed $20 [$10], for registering a |
|
|
vehicle in the county. |
|
|
SECTION 2. The changes in law made by this Act apply only to |
|
|
the optional county fee for a registration period beginning on or |
|
|
after the effective date of this Act. An optional county fee for a |
|
|
registration period beginning before the effective date of this Act |
|
|
is governed by the law in effect when the registration period began, |
|
|
and the former law is continued in effect for that purpose. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
